NEWS: Graphene Commercialization & Applications Summit USA Heads To California
Graphene Commercialization & Applications Summit USA takes place at the San Mateo Marriott Hotel on December 10-11.
This is the first congress to bring together speakers from manufacturing companies actively pursuing graphene integration, with leading research experts and pioneering academics to assess graphene's potential through the lens of its applications.
A day doesn't pass without revolutionary graphene research and application updates hitting the industry press and this week has been no different. Researchers at the University of Manchester have received a $100,000 grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to develop the next generation of condoms. The concept is to make composite materials that make thinner, stronger and safer condoms, which could help to prevent the spread of HIV and Aids.
Heading up this research is Dr. Aravind Vijayaraghavan, a speaker at Graphene Commercialization & Applications Summit USA. Dr. Vijayaraghavan's presentation will focus on the performance of graphene as a sensor and the timeline for commercialization.
This week also saw investors from across the world securing their piece of the graphene revolution when Applied Graphene Materials floated on the stock market for the first time. The float was more than two times oversubscribed and jumped 120% in the first 2 days; a resounding indicator of the financial force behind graphene development.
