The Only Completions And Reservoir Engineering-Focused Bakken Congress

Bakken & Three Forks: Completions & Well Spacing 2014

May 28-29 | Denver | Colorado

We are delighted to present the speaker faculty and brand new agenda for the 4th AnnualBakken & Three Forks: Completions & Well Spacing Congress 2014 - the only completions and reservoir engineering-focused Bakken congress.

There is a fine and difficult balance to be struck between reducing costs and increasing production and recovery efficiency. However, as Bakken operators ascend further into full production mode, it is a balance that is critical for long-term success. Bakken operators need to maximize drainage per well while driving down costs at every stage of completions, to optimize money spent against return on investment for every Bakken well drilled.

When working with several Bakken operators to put together this year's agenda, the overriding consensus of what is absolutely critical for operators to have is a compilation of the very latest frac results and high density well pilot data to allow a results-driven conclusion of "what works best where". The congress will provide answers to key questions such as: Which completions techniques have led to the best frac results? Which frac recipes have led to the highest production performance? Does this vary across the basin? What can be inferred from latest well density tests in terms of optimum well spacing?

Completions and well spacing play a huge role in cost and production efficiency and mastering the optimization of both aspects has the ability to significantly transform the economics of Bakken wells. The mission of this congress is to balance increased recovery with cost reduction and will do so through two key avenues:

1. COMPARING KEY FRAC VARIABLES...

To enable operators to make decisions that increase efficiency at every stage of completions

2. EXAMINING DATA AND INTERPRETATIONS FROM LATEST DOWN SPACING PILOTS...

To determine how far apart Bakken wells should be drilled for maximum recovery

All case studies will showcase the latest results from Bakken operators, through the use of different completion techniques, integrated completion approaches and high density pilots. Presentations over the course of the 2 days will include:

PLUG & PERF VS. SLIDING SLEEVES - Comparing the results of plug and perf vs. sliding sleeves in the Bakken to identify the highest performing frac

SLICK WATER VS. CROSS LINK VS. HYBRID - Analyzing the production results from the latest pilot tests to examine how the performance of different frac fluids vary across the Bakken

CEMENTED VS. OPEN HOLE COMPLETIONS - Comparing the results seen from cemented vs. open hole completions to determine the extent to which performance is driven by geology

FRAC STAGES: COST VS. INCREASED RECOVERY - Determining the number of frac stages in which, on a given lateral length, incremental production no longer justifies cost

PROPPANTS: SAND VS. CERAMIC VS. HYBRIDS - Examining the conductivity of the sand/ceramic interface found in hybrid completions to optimize frac performance

WELL SPACING AND INTERFERENCE - Presenting data and interpretations on drainage per well to determine how close wells can be drilled without causing interference

EXTENSION INTO THE DEEPER THREE FORKS BENCHES - Assessing the reservoir communication between the Bakken and three forks to determine the viability of extending into the lower benches
